Naturalist-in-Residence: Habitat Restoration at Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park - South Unit
If environmental worries keep you up at night, one of the best things to do is take action on behalf of nature. At this event, join the Naturalist and other volunteers in an ecological restoration project at Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park as we help make room for native wildflowers and grasses. You’ll also learn about other ways to nurture nature throughout the Madison area by joining people and organizations who are taking action on behalf of the environment.
Participants will be walking through an open woods and hand pulling or using shovels to remove invasive Japanese hedge parsley plants. It is recommended to wear long pants and sturdy shoes or boots. Bring drinking water. Bring gloves or borrow some from Friends of Cherokee Marsh.
This activity involves walking off trail on uneven ground. No experience needed. Training provided on site. This event will be cancelled if thunderstorms are in the area or the air quality index is over 100.
In partnership with the Friends of Cherokee Marsh.
Meet at 1000 Wheeler Rd, corner of Wheeler Rd and Ilene Ln. Park on the street.
Registration is required for this event. Registration will open two weeks before the date of the program.
Part of Madison Public Library's Naturalist-in-Residence program. The Naturalist-in-Residence is made possible in part through the generous support of Nancy Leff and Kenneth Lerner, and in partnership with Madison Parks.
