Let's Talk Gardening with the Midvale Heights Green Team and Special Guests

Just in time for spring planting!

Would you like to learn about gardening and landscaping options that are healthy and beneficial to you and our environment? Join your friends and neighbors to learn about the value of organic plants and soil products, native and pollinator plants, and gardens that are sustainable and serve as havens for a variety of wildlife.

Speakers at this event will include:

Randy Kohn, owner and operator of West Star Organics. One of the largest certified organic greenhouse operations in WI, West Star Organics specializes in helping gardeners have success in their organic gardens.

Athena Salzar, owner and operator of Two Ferns Native Nursery and Vice President of the Madison Chapter of Wild Ones. Athena has a background in restoration ecology from UW-Stevens Point and has spent her career in natural areas restoration, land management, and sustainable landscaping. She loves how landscaping with native plants combines her passion of restoration with her appreciation for art and good design.

Marcel Wuethrich, Midvale Heights neighbor and creator of the Odana Prairie at Odana Hills Golf Course. Marcel works at UW-Madison studying protective immune responses to pathogenic fungi. In his free time he passionately works on fostering native habitat for pollinators that are in decline nation and worldwide. Without pollinators and insects 80% of our plants and our food webs will disappear. Following Doug Tallamy's Homegrown National Park approach, Marcel will highlight ways for nature to thrive in human dominated landscapes.

The event begins at 7pm, but attendees are welcome to come early at 6:30 to chat with the panelists. Presented by the Midvale Heights Green Team in partnership with Sequoya Library.
